Absolutely. At Tri-Cities Gracie Jiu-Jitsu®, safety is our top priority. Our classes are structured to ensure everyone learns at their own pace in a supportive environment. Instructors closely monitor each session, teaching techniques in a way that minimizes risk and builds confidence.
No problem! Our beginner programs are specifically designed, from both a structural and safety perspective, for first-time Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. That’s why we are an officially Certified Training Center (CTC)® of Gracie University® with Certified Instructors.
We prioritize safety by pairing new students with experienced partners, conducting warm-ups, and providing a controlled training environment. Injuries are extremely rare due to our structured approach.
For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing like a T-shirt and shorts or workout pants. We’ll provide a training Gi (a lightweight two-piece white garment worn in martial arts) for you to use during your free trial. Just bring a water bottle and a positive attitude!
Your first class is all about feeling comfortable and getting introduced to Jiu-Jitsu. Arrive 20 minutes early for a quick orientation and walkthrough. You’ll meet your instructor, learn basic techniques, and ease into the training with no pressure.
Jiu-Jitsu is about self-defense, not aggression. Your child will learn techniques to protect themselves while also gaining confidence, discipline, and respect for others. It’s a safe, positive way to build life skills both on and off the mat.
